DG NTUCHIU: MERU BELIEVES IN ALL INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP ELECTED BY ITS OWN PEOPLE & WE ARE STILL ENGAGING.
Meru Deputy Governor Titus Ntuchiu today presided over this year’s Athwana Ward Education Day which was organized by County Majority Leader Victor Karithi Mutuma at Karumo Technical Training Institute in Tigania West. The event was attended by top leadership of the County including Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.
The Deputy Governor said the entire elected leadership of Meru County led by the Governor, H.E. Kiraitu Murungi is firmly focused on providing direction in terms of politics and development for both Meru County and the region.
"Since taking office, Governor Kiraitu has established an all-inclusive system of governance in the County which is consultative and ensures smooth and close working relationship between all levels of elected leadership from MCAs at Ward level, all the MPs, Governor and the Senator as well as between County and National Government," he added.
The DG also alluded to unconfirmed reports of a political event that will be taking place at KEMU tomorrow where it is alleged some governors and other political actors out of Meru County will be attending, and announced that the entire elected leadership of Meru County from Governor Kiraitu, Senator, MCAs and MPs have not been invited and are in no way involved in the said meeting. It is a matter organized by external actors to Meru County affairs.
DG Ntuchiu noted that while Meru County leadership has nothing to do with the said meeting, they wish the conveners well, and also wish them safe journeys as they return home once they are done with their business in the County.
On matters of leadership in Meru County and the region, the Deputy Governor assured Meru people that the elected leadership here in Meru led by Governor Kiraitu will continue engaging in their own meetings in order to decide together as a people, the political direction Meru shall take especially going into next year’s general election.
Those who intend to hold their meetings in Meru County to discuss their issues, he added, are welcome. However, he noted that Meru leaders will not be welcoming and tolerant to any antagonistic or provocative political rhetoric from outsiders because the people of Meru and Mt. Kenya East region have their own elected leaders whom they fully trust to make political decisions.
