Governor Kiraitu Murungi promise of ensuring quality and accessible healthcare has materialised with commissioning of an X -Ray Machine, a Renal ward ( Dialyses unit) and an advanced Biochemistry laboratory Machine at Nyambene Level IV Hospital in Maua.

In a ceremony officiated by Dr.Rufus Miriti the County Secretary and the Head Of Public Service and the Chief Of Staff Hon. Gideon Kimathi, also represented the Governor in the laying of foundation stone for the only Male Ward block in the region and the expansion of an outpatient block at the facility.


Hon. Kimathi highlighted that the county has paid for the installation of Phase III electricity transformer dedicated exclusively for the hospital in supporting high-tech machines to see the hospital elevated to Level V status.

With, Dr Miriti noting the entire Igembe region has never had a male ward with patients having to travel to Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital(MeTRH) in the case where they needed admission.

Dr .Miriti added that the rapid antigen test system for COVID-19 would enable patients gets results within 15 minutes, unlike in the past where patients had to wait for days before getting the results to curb the spread of the Pandemic.He urged patients to make use of the Biochemistry machine that has ability of testing over 50 samples in less time.

According to the Chief Officer- Medical Services , Dr.James Kirimi the Renal unit at the hospital becomes the second in the county after the first at MeTRH.The two does not only serve the county but the entire region.

Dr.Kirimi added Nyambene level IV hospital, has been given a rare combination of specialists in Dematology(Skin), Paedetrician(Children) and Gyneacology making it unique in the country to an hospital of that status.
