Meru County Government has opened the second Aflotoxin Testing Laboratory in the country , a laboratory thats comes in a time when the county is experiencing a spike of cancer cases .

The County Secretary , Dr Rufus Miriti said Meru county would set affordable testing rates for farmers and the business community to ensure sustainability of the project .

Dr.Miriti thanked an organisation called (TEXAS A&M ) that Meru has entered into a Public- Private partnership in equiping and training personnel and brought the laboratory to fruitation.

Public Health Chief officer , John Inanga noted the county had forged a working modality with farmers, in advising them on post-harvest storage and transport to ensure quality of the food products that is aflotoxin free.
