TAKING DEVOLUTION TO MWANANCHI

Immediately he took office, the Governor of Meru County, H.E. Kiraitu Murungi made it clear that he wanted the people of Meru to completely own and be part of their Government and the dream of Making Meru Great.
He intended to make the people part and parcel of the transformation of their immediate place where they live and derive a living, by constantly reminding them that, 'your Meru is where you live and eke out your daily sustenance'. Thus, he told the people 'Making Meru Great' made more sense if the transformation happened at the personal space of residence and particular place/source of livelihood.
Pursuant to this, the Governor today met and held deliberations with elected leaders of market and town boards and associations from across the County.
"My Government aims to empower and prepare you to own, control and ensure smooth delivery of all critical services in your towns and markets such as cleanliness, prompt collection of garbage and streamline everything else that improves doing business and living in your towns and markets, through the moto: 'My Town, My Business'," he told the leaders.
Governor Kiraitu also added that going forward, all officers in key departments of his Government such as public health, enforcement, revenue, cooperatives and environment, among others will work closely with the town and market boards and associations to ensure smooth delivery of services and development.
County Secretary and Head of Public Service Hon. Rufus Miriti pledged that his office will coordinate to ensure seamlessness of work between the boards and associations, and the county government staff.
