County Government Set For Enhanced Gender And Social Development.

Meru First Lady Priscilla Murungi has challenged the people of Meru to take advantage of the Regional Empowerment Learning Center established at Igoji MYS training center in a County government, HIVOS Partnership.
The partnership seeks to upscale adoption of Gender Action Learning System (GALS), an household participatory methodology for addressing gender related issues.
The First Lady who is also the patron of Meru Twaweza empowerment progam, said Twaweza Board will advance its social, economic & political empowerment networks to help reach out to men and women at the grassroots, striking a gender balance that fosters inclusivity and openness, while instigating a sense of togetherness in starting household level conversations, requisite for enhancing gender equity.
Lucas Chacha, HIVOS Program Manager, stated the program will, once rolled out, create synergy in exploring opportunities for gender and social development through peer to peer upscaling in Meru and the neighboring Counties
Gender & Social Development CEC, Linner Nkirote equally welcomed the program terming it as a key tool that will fill the existing gaps that impede strengthening of the societal fabrics as well as maximal exploitation of opportunities for the basic society level growth. They spoke during a GALS training for the Meru County Twaweza Board members, a day after Gender & Social Development Officers underwent a similar training.
