County executive members have held an implementation, progress review meeting of the County-World Bank co-funded development initiatives through the National Agriculture & Rural Inclusive Growth Project ( NARIGP) in Meru.

The 5 year program started in 2018, is geared at increasing Agricultural productivity and profitability for small holder farmers in four select banana, macadamia, avocado, potatoe and avocado value chains.

County Secretary, Rufus Miriti, who presided over the exercise, said the project cross-cut atleast all departments, hence the need for the top notch decision makers in the county to get acquainted with. He attributed the success of the partnership to governor Kiraitu's political goodwill that has created a friendly workmanship between the two tiers of government in many areas aimed to better Meru society.

Miriti, however, was keen to note NARIGP as being a project for MERU County and that all leaders and the community in areas being implemented, should own the projects but not politicize maliciously.

Respective CEC Carol Mutiga, stated that over 282 Common Interest Groups from 20 participating wards have been 100% funded along the said value chains. She added the county government will be facilitating 290 more groups indentified through Community Driven Development Committee, in due course.
