COUNTY GOVERNMET SET TO RECOGNIZE HEROES AND HEROINES AS GOVERNOR COMMISSIONS A COMMETTEE FOR AWARDS AND HONOURS

Governor Kiraitu Murungi commissions a committee for Awards and Honours that will be used in rewarding Heroes and Heroines of Meru, following the passage of a Honours Bill by the County Assembly.
According to the Governor , the Committee will among other mandates set up a fund that will take care for the families of the independence heroes, organize tournaments , name a landmark and monuments after them in an effort to immortalize their selfless action .
The committee Chairman Dr Gerrishon Mwiti , a celebrated scholar and author, said his committee will be used to select Meru historical leaders, Independence Heroes from AMeru community as well as the distinguished sons and daughters.
The Meru County Honour and Awards Act was passed in the County Assembly on September 17th, 2018 to allow the conferrement of the following honours;
1. Order of Koome Njue (OKN)
2. Order of Kaura O'Bechau (OKB)
3. Order of Mugwe (OM)
4. Distinguished Elder of Meru (DEM)
5. Distinguished Son of Meru (DSM)
6. Distinguished Daughter of Meru (DDM)
