Intensive Care Unit(ICU), High Depedancy Unit(HDU) and Renal Unit Complex at Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital ( MeTRH) is now complete.

Speaking during an inspection tour of the facility Meru County Governor , Kiraitu Murungi thanked Philips International Company who have been involved in the successfull installation of the state of art medical equipment at the facility on behalf of the county.The nine bed ICU facility has other specialised machines like the Impedance Cardiography (ICG) machine among others.

Meru County has partnered with National Government by ensuring smooth operation of the facility by training over 20 ICU nurses to man the facility.The ICU is not only expected to serve Meru county but the entire region.

The renal Unit at the MeTRH could previously handle only 4 patients but the current complex will see over 18 patients undergoing dialyses at the the complex daily.Previously patients were referred to the capital city of Nairobi to seek critical care services.

This comes after launching an oxygen plant with a capacity of 480 litres per minute that is already meeting all the oxygen demands for not only the referral hospital but all the rest of the health facilities in the county.
