BODABODA RIDERS TRAINED ON FINANCIAL LITERACY.

The Youth Department held an empowerment training for Bodaboda riders to sensitize them on longterm investment plans and their economic growth that includes starting income generating projects.

Chief Officer Youth affairs, Lewis Mwirigi noted it is high time the public respected the Bodaboda industry like any other and hence the reason for kickstarting the workshops to ensure a disciplined sector in Meru.

"We want them to replicate what Nanyuki Bodaboda sacco has done for its members including construction of rentals and buying of buses by its members through training," said Mr Mwirigi. He specifically noted an example of Abogeta Bodaboda sacco with a savings account of 1.2 million and has loaned its members over Ksh. 600,000 to start other businesses.

Sergeant Solomon Njuguna, the traffic Commander in Kariene, thanked the Governor for his Youth Empowerment drive Programmes as an initiative and ensured the county has the most disciplined bodaboda sector in the country.
