Governor Moves To Unite County Ahead Of BBI Report Release.

Days to the presentation of the report prepared by Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) Committee to President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Governor of Meru H.E. Kiraitu Murungi, has said that efforts are underway to ensure all leaders in the County are pulling in the same direction and speaking the same language, in order to make a unanimous and informed decision on the report for the best interests of Meru residents.
Governor Kiraitu said that working closely with the County Senator Hon. Mithika Linturi, all MPs and MCAs as well as other leaders, they will study the report once it is released and see the areas of interest to the people of Meru.
"I will personally be at the Bomas of Kenya when the report is released on Tuesday, after which as the leadership of this County we shall retreat, study it keenly, page by page, line by line and advise our people accordingly," said the Governor.
The Governor’s statement was reinforced by Senator Linturi and Imenti South MP Kathuri Murungi, who both said that the County of Meru is united and working towards the common goal, to see that Meru people derive maximum benefits from the proposals in the BBI report.
"Seeing the numbers in the just released census results, we will also be seeking to negotiate that with Meru being among the leading populous counties in the region, we need a top leadership position in the country should the report propose creation of more executive seats," said Mr. Linturi .
The sentiments were supported by former top leadership of the Party of National Unity (PNU) who recently defected to Governor Kiraitu’s camp, led by lawyer Mugambi Imanyara and former MCA Nturibi Intirikia among others, who also called on their former leader Cabinet Secretary Peter Gatirau Munya, to stop working as a lone ranger and cross over to join other leaders for the common good of the people of Meru.
The leaders were speaking at Menwe Day Mixed Secondary School during a fundraiser function for the construction project at the school, which was presided over by the Moderator of the 22nd General Assembly of the PCEA, Rt. Rev. Julius Guantai Mwamba.
