MERU GENDER POLICY TO ENSURE EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL.

Meru county is at the forefront in addressing gender discrimation in order to ensure equal rights in accessing government opportunities for both sexes. This would be through the ongoing development of a gender policy being formulated in partnership with Ripples international.

CECM education, gender and social development Linner Kailanya noted that the county had developed a gender based violence policy and launched the Twaweza Program in order to ensure economic inclusion for women. This policy will ensure drastic reduction of the high rate of school-girls dropouts. She stated this while addressing various stakeholders who attended the forum.

Civil Society Organisation, Meru Chapter Chairman, Mohammed Saleh and Njuri Ncheke Secretary General, Josphat Murangiri said they were committed in ensuring the policy would grant equal rights to land inheritance and matrimonial property ownership.
