Higher Learning Institutions Urged To Keep Abreast With Current Industrial Capabilities.

Deputy President William Ruto has praised Governor Kiraitu for recognising the centrality of TVET skills in economic and self development, noting that Kenya's development has derailed due to little investment in technical education.
While he presided over the 3rd Meru National Polytechnic(MNP) graduation ceremony, Ruto commended Kiraitu for partnering with MNP to impart the lives of the 600 Meru Youth Service who graduated from MNP last year, and an additional 600 who are set to undergoe similar training later this month.
The DP said they would be pivotal in pilot project of puting up first about 5000 houses that will offer opportunities for about 25,000 skilled youth in Meru, to effect the big 4, housing agenda.
On his part, the governor said higher institutions of learning must be keen on the programs that produces relevant skills and expertise for positive transformation of society. He was assertive this can't happen with some courses that he reported to have been creating 'education for joblessness' rather than a better future.
On politics, Kiraitu said the people of Meru must be respected and that the people will make a reasoned resolve that befits their interests, soon after a keen analysis of the BBI report, once out.
His statement was backed up by senator Linturi who said Meru's 'bedroom' must be safeguarded from intruders, through 2022.
