Meru County Government held a cancer screening exercise at Kanyakine, in its quest to diagnose, treat and completely eradicate cancer in Meru.

The CECM Health Meshack Mutuma, said the County Government is focusing on preventive and promotive healthcare due to the recorded high cancer cases in Meru. He went on to assure residents that camps would be set up around the County in bid to ensure people had a chance to learn more about cancer as well as ensure there's early detection, in the eventuality of its existence.

Further, he added that the County had set up an already functional Oncology Unit at The Meru Teaching and Referral hospital that would soon be elevated to a fully fledged Cancer Center.

Representatives from Amphath and an International Cancer Institute, entities partnering with the County Government, expressed their intention to continue giving technical support, in Meru's commitment to fight Cancer.
