MERU LEVEL 5 SET TO CONSTRUCT A OXYGEN PLANT FOR THE HOSPITAL

Meru Teaching and Refferal hospital handed over the site for the construction of an oxygen plant as another milestone in investment by the county to ensure affordable healthcare. Phillips Multinational will also partner with the county to construct another oxygen plant for the Renal and ICU that is already under construction by the county.

According to the hospital's CEO Dr. Kirimi said that the oxygen plant would save the hospital's expenses on its oxygen demand.

"Monthly cost of oxygen cylinders for the hospital is 2 million, which means it is expensive to purchase oxygen cylinders, hence the need for the construction of an ultra modern facility for the hospital," Dr. Kirimi said.

Phillips Multinational Company representative said they would also train 2 county engineers to ensure good maintainance of the equipment. The plant for the hospital will have a capacity to produce 480 litres of oxygen a day.
