Gideon Kimathi, speaking during the Bank’s celebration of 35 years anniversary at Makutano Equity Branch, where he represented Governor Kiraitu Murungi, said that the rapid expansion and growth of the institution, has been due to its innovative ideas and flexibility by accommodating the lowest earning Mwananchi.

"As we strive to achieve our Governor’s vision of Making Meru Great, we want to thank this bank for making the Meru common Mwananchi great, by realizing and maximally expanding their potential in the banking industry which has also enabled Equity to cut itself a niche in the market as the leading and one of the most successful banks in the country. Before Equity, the Mwananchi with as low as Sh500 was not considered as a banker, but you recognized and dignified them by giving them the respect and status of any other customer in the industry," added the Chef of Staff.

Mrs. Nancy Gitonga, Makutano Branch Manager, thanked the County Government for providing a conducive business environment, adding that Governor Kiraitu’s efforts to empower the residents and his vision to increase access cash in Mwananchi's pocket, will greatly expand the Bank’s customer base.

The event which also commemorated the Bank’s unveiling of new logo, modern ATM machines among other activities, was attended by customers, officials of the County Government, North Imenti Administrator Mwiti Kathendu, Meru Water Corporation CEO Mr. Mberia, member of the clergy Bishop Kiogora Magambo and Rev. Father Kinoti.
