CHURCH ASKED TO SUPPORT MERU VISION 2040 AND OTHER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

The church has been urged to support development programs that are being spearheaded by Governor Kiraitu Murungi, for true transformation of the County in line with the Governor’s agenda to Make Meru Great. Chief of Staff Hon. Gideon Kimathi, has said that Governor Kiraitu’s leadership strongly focuses on both short term, medium and long term goals aimed at transforming Meru into a first world economy.

Hon. Kimathi said that programs such as Meru Youth Service (MYS), the Sh20 million Ward allocation Fund and the Vision 2040, are meant to ensure the objective of Making Meru Great is progressively achieved. While the Ward Fund is aimed at ensuring continuous implementation of development projects at village level, MYS program is empowering the youth in the County by equipping them with labor skills to participate in the projects and consequently, economic development of the County. Vision 2040 on the other hand, is meant to outline the long term strategic blueprint to guide the transformation of the County's economy by year 2040.

His sentiments were strongly supported by other leaders including North Imenti Admin Mwiti Kathendu and Political activist Praise Edwin Kiongozi. Hon Kimathi was speaking at PCEA Meru Town Church Mwendantu during the 15th Anniversary of the Imenti North Presbytery and Fundraiser for new church office building, and later at St. Luke's Catholic Parish Kiamuri in Kiagu Ward, Imenti Central, at another Church fundraiser for construction of the parish office for the priest, Fr. Andrew Mugambi.
