A LEAD CORPORATE DONATES FRESH GREENS TO MERU LEVEL 5 HOSPITAL.

Municipality, Imenti North: Director Patrick Mwirigi Muriungi from the office of the Governor accompanied by a team from Sammah Group of Companies, this afternoon paid a courtesy call to Dr. James Kirimi, CEO of Meru Teaching & Referral Hospital (MTRH), at the hospital premises. Sammah Group is major owner of a chain of businesses across Meru and Laikipia counties, as well as leading suppliers of green produce.

The team, led by Group CEO, Mr. Samuel Henia, delivered a donation of about 1000kgs of fresh greens for consumption by patients at the hospital. Mr. Henia said the donation was in line with the Sammah Group of Companies' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He promised to make more donations in future as way of giving back to society. Dr. Kirimi thanked the Director and the Sammah Group team for their generosity, noting that at any one time, the hospital hosts more than 400 patients who have to be given meals.

"The consignment of fresh greens, coming at a time when they are rare in the market owing to the prevailing dry conditions, will greatly boost food nutrition to inpatients," said Dr. Kirimi

Dr. Kirimi and Director Muriungi, later toured the ongoing construction of the new 5-storey 400-bed capacity Ward block, to inspect progress. Dr. Kirimi expressed confidence that the new block will soon be completed to decongest the wards in the largest referral hospital in the region.

Director Muriungi thanked Dr. Kirimi for the good work at the hospital, noting that it is well in line with Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s vision to make Meru Great, where he pledged to the people, provision of best healthcare and state of the art health facilities.
