Thangatha water resource users in Tigania have been asked to embrace water rationing scheme for equity share, especially this time of drought.

CEC Water and Irrigation, Dr. Eunice Nkirote, who was accompanied by MEWASS CEO Joseph Mberia and Tigania IMETHA Technical Manager Edward Ngugi to a meeting with community water projects leaders at Thangatha Dam, urged residents to be mindful and ensure other people have at least water for domestic use. She said everyone has a right for access to clean and adequate drinking water.

The Dam's water inflow capacity has been relatively low than the outflow due to adverse climatic change . Nkirote called for a collective responsibility in protecting the catchment areas.
"We must take care of the sources that gives us water. we all have to give back to the environment by planting water friendly trees, even as the government mobilise resources for rehabilitation and protection of these catchments" said the CEC.

According to Mr. Mberia, It was resolved that community water users and Tigania IMETHA users (Ngundune, Muriri and Kianjai residents) will now have to use the water with the community project's users alternately.
