The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KNCCI), whose main aim is to ensure all five chambers, (Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Isiolo and Marsabit) are vibrant and prosperous business communities, today, held a meeting during which they discussed various issues such as empowering all Chambers to establish Saccos in a bid to allow small business holders, who would otherwise not qualify for main stream bank loans, access low interest loans from the said Saccos, expanding their lending capacity and increasing their membership to over 5000 registered members among other things.
The KNCCI's National Director Upper Eastern, Mr. Jacob Godana, promised that the Organization had the President's full support, and that soon, all offices would be equipped with a Secretariat.
During the meeting, officials tasked with coming up with KNCCI's strategic plan, were elected, where the sitting National Upper Eastern Chairman, Mr. Godana is to chair the committee, while Mr. Mati (Vice chair Embu), will act as the committee's vice, Ms. Rehema Abukadir (vice chair Isiolo) will be the treasurer, Ms. Veronica Kehenja (a Director) will be the Secretary to the committee and Mr. Gakindu, (the vice chair Tharaka Nithi) will be a committee member.
It was also agreed that an SME's conference would be held in Meru County on 1st October 2019, an invent they anticipate will give various registered SMEs, both well established and those with the potential to grow further, an opportunity to showcase their business ideas, products and services as well give potential investors a platform through which they can interact with business people.
