COUNTY GOVERNMENT VOWS TO TAKE LEGAL MEASURES AGAINST SABOTEURS OF PROJECTS*

The County Government of Meru will move with speed to ensure prosecution of individuals found to be involved in or inciting against destruction of infrastructural works and other ongoing development projects. Chief of Staff Hon. Gideon Kimathi has warned individuals involving themselves in such acts that they risk facing the full force of the law, for engaging in actions that are aimed at undermining and sabotaging projects which have been expensively funded using Meru taxpayers money.
This comes after EALA MP and former Tigania MP Mpuru Aburi was yesterday filmed and posted on social media, inciting people and participating in removal and destruction of ongoing cabro works and landscaping of streets in Meru town, after which he was chased away by irate residents. Hon. Kimathi added that such practices shall not be tolerated.
"As a government we are also urging our people to pay keen interest on the projects being implemented by MCAs in their Wards, from the Sh20 million annual allocation given by our Governor Kiraitu Murungi to ensure sustained grassroots development in every Ward. We encourage that you work very closely with your local leaders to ensure all incomplete projects such as dispensaries, roads, water, ECDE projects and others, are all completed using the fund," added Hon. Kimathi.
His sentiments were supported by North Imenti Sub County Admin Anderson Kathendu, who said that they are very vigilant about guarding against any malicious attempts to sabotage Government projects, and they have already directed law enforcement to take action against perpetrators.
They were speaking at Kirogine Methodist Church(MCK), when they joined the worshipers for the Church’s Men’s Fellowship Sunday and Service. The event was also attended by Political activist Praise Edwin Kiongozi, who urged Meru County residents to continue supporting Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s development agenda to Make Meru Great.
Other invited guests at the event were Meru County Senator Mithika Linturi and Ntima West MCA, Paul Bagine.
