GOVERNOR KIRAITU CONDEMNS ABUSE OF CHURCH PLATFORMS.

Governor Kiraitu Murungi has said that in order to Make Meru Great, his admiration aims to promote and work closely with religious fraternity to create a conducive moral and spiritual environment for the people of Meru. He called upon religious leaders in Meru County to guard the sanctity of religious platforms against abuse and misuse by politicians. The Governor expressed concerns that some political players desperate for crowds, have been allowed to use church altars to make blasphemous political pronouncements that have seemed to border on mockery to God. He challenged the clergy to stump their authority and stop the sacrilege that is currently being perpetuated by people who claim to be leaders, but lie, insult and speak evil of others while using the platform provided for by the church.
"Some have blatantly lied that they have gone up mountains to speak with God about certain political issues. They have done this at the altars in front of bishops and priests, and it is advisable that they be admonished to seek repentance and penance," said the Governor.
He warned against political desperation that has pushed political hopefuls to near insanity. He has called for objectivity among politicians, saying that those who are genuinely interested to change the lives of Meru people, should emulate the example of Fr. Gaciata of Mitunguu, who has worked closely with the police, community and leaders to transform Kaurone village into a crime and alcohol free zone, through community policing. The Governor was speaking at Kanyakine Catholic Church during the church’s family day.
Accompanying the Governor at the event was the CEC Member for Public Service, Chief of Staff Hon. Gideon Kimathi who is also the acting Chief Officer for Public Service, heads of corporations, directors and a host of MCAs from Igembe, Tigania and Imenti, led by Majority leader, Athwana MCA Victor Karithi.
The leaders condemned politicians led by Senator Mithika Linturi, who has recently attacked Chief of Staff Hon. Kimathi, saying that Mr. Mithika targets Hon. Kimathi in a bid to weaken Governor Kiraitu’s Government, in a calculated move that is being perpetuated to fight the Governor’s key people. They challenged the Senator to exchange seats with Hon. Kimathi, for he has appeared to be envious of the job.
