MERU GOVERNOR REGISTERS FOR HUDUMA NAMBA.

Governor Kiraitu has joined other Kenyans to register for National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIM) dubbed "Huduma Numba," at the county's Headquarters.

Kiraitu was impressed to note the government has taken the right direction to digitize its operations that will relieve Kenyans the burden of carrrying multiple crucial documents.

"I hope the number will in future act like the social security number as used in the developed countries. In Germany for instance, people are using one card for voting exercises and it would be better if Kenya induce such a system to reduce multiple voter registration."

Present was Imenti North Subcounty security team, led by DCC Isaac Masinde, who said the exercise has seen more than 1.1 million Meru constituents registered, with a target of reaching out to about 1.5 million residents.

According to Masinde, the system synchronizes details of an indivdual into a single number that will help the government streamline service provision and also in combacting crimes. The ministry has it that the mass regitration exercise which is concluding on this Saturday, the 18th, will not be extended.
