Governor Kiraitu Murungi has met and shared wonderful moments this afternoon with his high school teacher at Chuka Boys High School from the 70s, Prof. Daniel Steiniger and his wife Judy. It was a nostalgic recollection of 50 years where so much has changed for both the teacher and the student. It was a breathtaking walk down the memory lane, revisiting the dramatic events of their lives apart, since they parted ways at Chuka Boys High School.

Prof. Steiniger expressed great pride and admiration, after witnessing how much his student had achieved and how his eventful life has transformed from the young student he knew back then in Chuka Boys, to the person he met today as the Governor of Meru County.

"We have shared the exciting moments of our separate lives, where he went back to the United States after his career as a teacher in Kenya, while I went through many interesting moments of my lifetime thereafter," said the Governor after the meeting.

Governor Kiraitu shared with his teacher about his academic journey, to his experiences as a teacher of law both at the University of Nairobi and the Kenya School Law, to his years as a crusader for Human Rights, Democracy and the Second Liberation of the Republic, which saw him exiled and had to live in the United States for some time, during the period which he studied at the prestigious Harvard Law School and had the honor of interacting and studying with the man who later became the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, and finally his return back to Kenya to a thrilling political career which has seen him become the longest politician serving in elective Politics in the Country today.

The meeting was also attended by fellow students from Chuka Boys with whom he went through Prof. Steiniger classes, as their teacher. The Governor and fellow Chuka Boys Alumni, resolved to establish an old boy’s association, the Steiniger and Judy Friends of Chuka Boys High School, which will spearhead transformative and mentorship programs to help the generation after them, to learn as much as they did from Prof. Steiniger, to become even greater members of our society.
