Governor Kiraitu Murungi has challenged political leaders in Meru County to spend their lives meaningfully, by bringing positive change to the lives of the people.

The Governor said that history will remember each leader, for the transformative change they make to the people of Meru County, and not for their greatness in playing politics, insulting opponents or being politically competitive.

The Governor said that on his part, he is firmly focused to ensure that he delivers landmark projects, including completion of the projects which have been incomplete for decades, such as water, roads among others, whose impact on the lives of Meru residents will be remembered for generations.

"All that matters in this life is the efforts we put to improve and make the lives of our people, better off than we found them. We need not stress each other because we are all here on earth, for a short period of time and the change we make, is what outlives us," he said.

The Governor spoke in Igoji, at the funeral ceremony for Dr. Kirimi Murithi, who passed away following a domestic accident. The Governor mourned Dr. Murithi as a young, promising son of Meru County whose life was cut short, and will be missed by many.

He lamented the many deaths of young people that have been occurring in the society, noting it is a dangerous trend for the County. He asked religious leaders to pray for the unfortunate streak of loss of young lives to end.

He was accompanied at the funeral ceremony by Chief of Staff Hon. Gideon Kimathi, Igoji East MCA Hon. Kireria Mwobobia and other County Government leaders.
