Meru residents have been advised to dismiss and shun toxic politics being propagated by few individuals who are bent on advancing selfish interests, to derail Governor Kiraitu’s development agenda. Chief of Staff Hon. Gideon Kimathi has told Meru people that the Governor and his administration have keenly noted the motives of certain political players, who are determined to engage in aggressive political rhetoric, aimed at deviating focus from development and service delivery.

He was speaking at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Igoji Catholic Parish where he represented Governor Kiraitu Murungi during celebration of 30 Years of Priesthood for Fr. Alexander Kiruja Miriti. Hon. Kimathi noted that the call to early political campaigns is geared towards ensuring that the Governor’s drive to Make Meru Great fails, so as to hand political points and line of argument to the competitors. As such, CoS Kimathi said, Governor Kiraitu is firmly focused on what matters most to the Mwananchi, which is delivery of road infrastructure, water, good healthcare among other developments.

These sentiments were also echoed by Igoji East MCA Hon. Kireeria Mwobobia, who assured that the people from his Ward are in full support of the Governor’s development vision. Hon. Kireeria said that Igoji residents are happy and excited over the major developments ongoing in the area such as cabro-paving of Kieni Kia Ndege, Ikui Mweru Water Project whose Phase 1 is already complete and another Sh8 million has already been given out by the County Government for completion of the remaining phase.

Another Speaker at the event, Praise Edwin alias Kiongozi, also called on people of Meru County to ignore calls for early campaigns, warning that this could humper elected leaders from delivering the promises they made to the electorate during the last electoral campaigns. Mr. Kiongozi cautioned the people not to entertain political idlers who believe that the only way to build themselves politically is by attacking leaders who are already in office.
