GOVERNOR KIRAITU TO LAUNCH CABRO UPGRADE OF MAJOR STREETS IN MERU TOWN

Governor Kiraitu Murungi joined the women and fraternity of Imenti region Deaneries Catholic Women Association (CWA), for the annual celebration of the Feast of Annunciation (Îî Mwathani-'Yes Lord'), at Consolata Primary School Gitoro, Meru. The women from across the Imenti deaneries of South Imenti, Central Imenti, North Imenti and Buuri congregated in the yearly event to renew their vows and commitment to Christian faith, the Church and the institution of Marriage.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Kiraitu announced that his administration is focused on addressing core issues such as health and infrastructure, which mostly affect women in the County. He announced that the County Government will soon be rolling out the Meru Care program, which is expected to reduce the burden of health expenses to residents and especially, bodaboda operators.

"We have seen cases where our people especially bodaboda operators have been held by hospitals after accidents because they could not raise the bills amounting to hundreds of thousands of shillings. The Meru Care program will solve these cases at a small cost of Sh2000 per family which will cover the costs of treatment for all members in all our healthcare facilities," said Governor Kiraitu.

The Governor also announced that he will be launching cabro construction of all major streets in Meru town on Tuesday next week. This is in line with his agenda to modernize and expand the towns in the County, especially the major towns of Nkubu, Meru town, Timau, Maua, Laare, Mutuati and Mikinduri.
