Led by Governor Kiraitu, Meru leaders have raised their concerns over large number of incomplete or non existing national government funded projects within the County that are massively affecting business operations across the County.

About 131 multi sectoral projects worth Ksh. 18.9 Billions have either stalled, existed on papers or are between 10% - 95% stages of completion.

In a leaders meeting with the CS. Interior and Coordination of National Government, Dr. Fred Matiangi who was accompanied by his PS Mr. Kibicho and CS, Public Services, Margaret Kobia, Governor Kiraitu noted with concern that no single project is complete, with some completely not started in the last about 7 years ago.

However he praised the National Government for giving keen interest to development in Meru County. The county has immensely benefited from cordial relationship the two tiers of governments have had.

As the CEC Finance, Deputy Governor Titus Ntuchiu also present, raised alarm over financial challenges the devolved units are experiencing over delays in the disbursement of funds from the national treasury and also the national assembly intentions to reduce the Counties budget as bottleneck to devolution

In responce, Matiangi spoke out strongly saying president Uhuru's expectations is that Kenyans get projects done as intended .

"I came here to work so that some work is done. According to the theory of management, work get done is what you inspect," said Matiangi.

He said all the 131 projects must be complete or have made a remarkable progress in 3-6 months' time.He scheduled a meeting in the next two weeks with the Governor, other stakeholders and a group of at least 8 Cabinet Secretaries in the concerned infrastructural development projects, to enhance the process.

On security he said the deployment of entire Meru's security agencies will be reviewed, with a keen interest on Isiolo- Meru boarder which he said will be made through a jointly established boarder patrol unit between the two counties.

Also, the CS cautioned administrators against cover ups for the gender based violence perpetrators saying enyone caught must be brought on hold.
