First Lady Margaret Kenyatta today flagged off the Paralympic Race of the 4th Edition of the BeyondZero Half Marathon , an activity held at Nyayo stadium, Nairobi.

Speaking after a 10km Marathon race, Margaret said that through the Beyond Zero collective effort they have contributed to prevention of thousands of mothers and babies dying from lack of access to health care and medicines. She said they have purchased and delivered mobile clinics to all 47 counties.

President Kenyatta said the marathon is aimed at raising money to support the mothers and children of this Republic. "It is a wonderful initiative that has gone a long way to support us in our national program of ensuring that we achieve beyond zero" he added


DP William Ruto who also participated in a 25km Marathon race said that the event goes beyond matters health, that it is also a social event that brings Kenyans together.


Meru First lady Priscilla Murungi who accompanied Margaret in the 10km Marathon, said they are happy as the county government to have a similar program, the Twaweza, which is aimed at empowering women. She promised to support and work together with the first lady for improved maternal care.
