The Meru fire Fighters have recently topped in Kenya as the top performing team, following a stiff competition with other counties in a National Symposium organized in Muranga County early December 2018.

Preceded by a five-day training, the symposium dubbed "Fire Medical Service Symposium and Competition 2018" with a theme "A day out with an emergency responder" and a sub theme," Profiling EMT and a fire fighter," covered fire service leadership, community fire safety, tactical fire fighting, emergency medical service and fire engine operation.

The competition was organized in a partnership between the Africa Fire Mission, Polish Center for International Aid PCPM, Poland, Kenya Medical Care Technician(KMCT) and Kenya National Fire Brigade Association (KENFIBA)

The team emerged the best winning a trophy that will be competed for in the year 2019 in a symposium to be held in Nairobi County
