Kiraitu Tours Ngaremara Special Ward

Governor Kiraitu Murungi, yesterday joined jubilant Epiding villagers in Ngaremara Special Ward, Tigania East where he launched a completed borehole, distributed 500 bags of maize, beans and rice and issued books to pupils from Kiwanja Primary School.

Being a special ward, Governor Kiraitu’s Government is keen to uplift the living standards of the residents by providing them with sufficient water for domestic use and irrigation to boost food security.

The Governor instructed the Department of Water to sink boreholes in all schools in the special ward which is largely cosmopolitan in the spirit of Affirmative Action because the area falls in the arid region of Northern Kenya. He promised to lobby for more resources for all semi-arid wards bordering Isiolo, now that Meru is an ASAL County so that the people in these marginalized areas can benefit.

"May I also assure the residents that the land titling process is on and 50 land surveyors will be deployed at the adjudication sections to ensure titles are issued by January next year," said the Governor.

"We allocated an extra Ksh.10 million on top of the Ksh.20 million to this Ward and I appreciate the work the area MCA, Hon. Kinyua Turibu and the Ward Development Committee are doing to uplift the livelihoods of the people," he added.

Governor Kiraitu also launched the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) at Kiwanja Primary School and issued ECDE milk to the children.
