Kiraitu Donates Foodstuffs To Boost Betty Karambu's Efforts

Governor Kiraitu has donated foodstuffs to Mitooni Primary School in Buuri Sub-County to step up efforts by 19-year-old Betty Karambu to keep over twenty kids in school.

Donating the 50 bags of food on behalf of the Governor, Gideon Kimathi who is the Chief of Staff said the Governor was touched by the kindness of the young girl who took upon herself to educate over 20 children in her neighbourhood.

Speaking during the ceremony, Kenya Red Cross Regional Coordinator Gitonga Mugambi expressed gratitude for the kind gesture by the Governor and appealed for more to compliment what Betty is doing. Gitonga said she is under the mentorship of her office. Betty on her part said she is grateful Kiraitu decided to support the initiative to educate her poverty-stricken neighbours after listening to her.

The school head teacher thanked the County Government for easing Betty’s endeavour to keep the kids in school. Director of external linkages Pauline Laiboni who spoke on behalf of the First Lady Priscilla Murungi promised to provide new school uniform for the kids.
