KURA BOARD TOURS MERU COUNTY

Deputy Governor Titus Ntuchiu today received Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) Board officials at Meru County Government Headquarters, who were on a tour of the County to inspect progress on various roads undergoing construction and maintenance under the agency. The Board officials, led by KURA Director General, Engineer Silas Kinoti and Board Chairman, Mr Henry Musemati Mulwa sought to strengthen the working relationship with the County Government and enhance cooperation in order to increase efficiency in the delivery of services to mwananchi.

Speaking during the event, KURA Director General, Eng. Kinoti said that the agency is overseeing construction of roads in Meru town at a cost of Ksh. 3 billion and another phase in Maua town at a cost of Ksh.1.1 billion. "The Board is also fully committed to fast ruck speedy completion of projects in accordance to set timelines," said Eng. Kinoti. He further added that the works in the roads under KURA in Meru town are at 60% completion with the projects expected to be completed and open for public use by 31st October 2018.

The Deputy Governor and KURA Board officials later toured and inspected progress on construction of the Eastern and Western Bypasses around Meru Town. The team which also comprised of Imenti North MP Abdul Rahim made inspection stops at Mwirine and Kathita River underpass on Eastern Bypass and Gikumene and Giantune Kathita Bridge on Western Bypass. They also toured the intersection point of Western Bypass at Gitoro, opposite Meru National Polytechnic.
