GOVERNOR KIRAITU LEADS EFFORTS FOR TOURISM REVIVAL IN THE COUNTY.
Governor Kiraitu Murungi took a high-powered delegation of investors from China, led by Mayor Liu Xiaohua of Huangshan Municipal Government on a guided tour to the Meru National Park.
The visit with the investors is part of the Murungi's efforts to revive Meru National Park in line with his Manifesto Promise to improve tourism sector in the County. The Governor aims at promoting the Park as a high-end tourist destination in the Country. Despite being equal in area to Masai Mara, Meru National Park has not been able to realize the similar flow of tourists and the Governor hopes to reverse this trend by marketing it to the world.

Governor Kiraitu said that the road leading to the park already has a contractor on site to ensure it is properly tarmacked for smooth flow of both local and international tourists. The airstrip at the park will also be improved.
The Governor in the tour by Principal Secretary, State Department of Wildlife, Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, Dr Margaret Mwakima, Deputy Governor Titus Ntuchiu, Chief of Staff Hon. Gideon Kimathi, Meru County Development and Investment Corporation boss, Ms Felicity Nkirote Biriri, KWS officials, County CECM for Tourism Mr Maingi, Environment CECM Ms Caroline Mutiga, among other top County officials.
