KIRAITU SIGNS MOU TO PROMOTE PRIMARY HEALTH CARE

The County Government of Meru has signed an MOU with Henry Family Advised Fund, led by Dr Jaymie Henry, to promote Primary Health Care.

Speaking during the meeting, Governor Kiraitu said the foundation will work with the 1500 Meru County CHVs and MYS Health Workers combined, to promote the basic health education. He added that there’s a need for digitizing health and in this discourse, the Health Workers and Volunteers will be facilitated with Smartphones to aid in data entry during their door-to-door health campaigns.

"The County will provide training facilities as the Foundation provides expertise, linkages and partnerships to work with, in training and conducting Neglected Surgical Diseases (NSDs)" Said the Governor.

The NSDs includes cleft lip and palate, cataracts, hernia and clubfoot.

Ms Jaymie said that Meru is the First County the Foundation is working with to conduct Health research. She noted that the foundation which works with the International Collaboration of Essential Surgery will promote surgical interventions that save lives and prevent permanent disabilities and life-threatening conditions through treatment of children born with congenital defects and mothers with Obstructive Labor Complications such as Obstetric Fistula.

The Foundation also aims to fast-track referrals from the field and Level 4 hospitals to level 5 hospitals.
