FARMERS TO REAP FROM KOREA AND PARTNERSHIP WITH MERU COUNTY
Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has expressed his willingness on enhancing cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Meru County to promote agriculture. Kiraitu said despite his international networks he specifically went to look for the Republic of Korea ambassador due to his country turnaround story and economic catch-up over the past half-century. Kiraitu was speaking at various locations when he conducted the Korean envoy H.E Kwon Young Dae on a tour to see the prospects of the agriculture sector in the County. He said he was looking for deepened cooperation because he wants Meru to follow the Korea example on economic growth. During the day long visit, Ambassador Kwon Young visited a small-scale farmer James Gitonga in Kiria, Imenti Central before heading to Nkubu open air market. Later on, he addressed farmers at Kaguru Agricultural Training Centre and concluded the visit at Kamachege Banana market in Abogeta East Ward. Ambassador Kwon said he was delighted to see great potential in Meru farmers and the Korean government will support the farmers achieve growth in the coming days.
