First Lady Phoebe Munya launched a new programme that aims to stimulate reading culture among school going children in Meru County.
Through the initiative, the First Lady will donate books worth Ksh 40 Million across 300 schools. The first batch worth Ksh 20 Million was flagged off.
Under this programme dubbed ‘'First Lady Reading Club'' she is partnering with Children International Kenya.
She commended the Governor for his enormous support to the improvement of women and children welfare in the county.

‘'Reading for pleasure on a broad range of subjects improves children cognitive development'' said the First Lady.
Speaking during the launch, Children International Kenya Coordinator Sam Wanyonyi said they will continue working with the First Lady to progress to more schools.
