H.E. Governor Mutuma MEthingia Meets Health Unions To Strengthen Welfare Of Health Workers In Meru County
H.E. Governor Mutuma M'Ethingia today held a consultative meeting with representatives of health sector unions, including KNUMLO, KUNNAD, KNUPT, KEPHPU, and KNUN, led by George Gibore, to deliberate on the welfare and working conditions of health workers in Meru County.
The Governor reaffirmed that a strong health system begins with motivated and well-supported workers, noting that his administration remains committed to creating a conducive working environment, ensuring fair motivation, supporting career growth through promotions, and implementing policies that uplift health professionals across the county.
Since assuming office, the county government has promoted more than 450 health workers, while over 200 officers have benefited from the harmonization and merger of Job Groups M/N to N and Q/R to R. Additionally, the Public Service Board is finalizing an ongoing promotion exercise that has created 545 positions for non-specialists and 79 positions for specialists.
H.E. Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia further noted that his administration has taken deliberate steps to address longstanding human resource challenges, including the provision of comprehensive health insurance cover for health workers.
The Governor assured health workers that their concerns are being heard and emphasized the county government’s commitment to continued collaboration in building a motivated, productive, and people-centered health sector that delivers quality healthcare services to every resident of Meru County.
