Meru China Strategic Partnership For Sustainable Growth
H.E. Mutuma M'Ethingia visited the headquarters of China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) in Guangzhou, a globally recognized firm known for constructing Kenya’s Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and delivering major infrastructure and waste recycling projects worldwide.
During the visit, he also presided over the signing of a strategic agreement between the County Government of Meru and the South-South International Trade Promotion Center. This partnership draws on the Center’s extensive expertise in technology, finance, agriculture, energy, natural resources, trade, healthcare, and education.
Through this agreement, the two parties will establish the "South-South-Meru New Economic Cooperation Model" and develop the "Meru County Cooperation Demonstration Zone." This initiative positions Meru as a model for China-Kenya collaboration and helps shape the county as a "Window of Africa to China."
The partnership is expected to promote integrated agricultural development, support the growth of specialty products, introduce Chinese herbal crops, invest in solar energy systems, and advance the development of industrial parks.
These efforts are geared toward transforming Meru into an agricultural benchmark, creating employment opportunities, strengthening food security, and driving sustainable economic growth.
