Meru County Strengthens Healthcare Delivery With Additional Ksh51.6 Million Medical Supplies Dispatch.
On behalf of Meru Governor H.E. Hon. Rev. Mutuma M’Ethingia, The Deputy Governor, H.E. Linda Gakii Kiome today flagged off an additional consignment of medicines and medical supplies worth Ksh51.6 million to strengthen the availability of essential supplies in all health facilities across the county.
Today's delivery includes Ksh41.4 million worth of supplies from Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) destined for all health centres and dispensaries, as well as an additional shipment worth Ksh10.2 million from Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) targeting Timau, Kibirichia, Giaki, Kangeta, and Mutuati Sub-County Hospitals.
This dispatch follows last week’s consignment which was distributed to Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital (MeTRH) and sub-county hospitals across the county bringing the total value of essential medicines supplied within the past two weeks to Ksh68.7 million.
The county government of Meru is determined to ensure that no health facility in Meru runs out of essential medicines or medical supplies because the health and wellbeing of the people remain at the heart of Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia’s development agenda. The Deputy Governor urged the people to continue registering for SHA to ease access to quality, affordable healthcare services without burdening themselves, families and the community with out of pocket payments.
The county government has significantly increased its allocation for acquisition of Health Products and Technologies (HPTs) in the current financial year from Ksh223.8 million to Ksh300 million. Meru county is committed to continuously strengthen Meru's healthcare system through consistent stock-ups of public pharmacies, enhanced infrastructure, and improved service delivery, ensuring that every resident from rural dispensaries to major hospitals can access quality and affordable healthcare services.
