Advancing Infrastructure And Connectivity Through The Horn Of Africa Gateway Project.

Meru County continues to benefit from the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project (HoAGDP), a transformative initiative supported by the World Bank and implemented through the Ministry of Roads and Transport.

H.E. Governor Rev. Mutuma M’Ethingia, accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Dr. Julius Mbijiwe, and the CECM for Finance, Monicah Kathono, held a meeting with Ministry officials led by the North Eastern Development Initiative (NEDI) Coordinator, Hon. Mohamed Guleid, to review the progress of the project within the county.

The ongoing upgrade of 40 km of road, the development of 5 km of spur roads, the planned Meru Bypass, and the upcoming Trade Facilitation Centre are set to ease movement, support small businesses, and expand economic opportunities for the people of Meru.

Additionally, local youth are benefiting from vocational training offered in partnership with KeNHA, while communities continue to gain from 17 social projects focused on health, education, and market development. The County Government of Meru remains committed to ensuring these developments directly uplift residents and contribute to building a stronger, more connected Meru.
