Linda Gakii Kiome, officially flagged off a consignment of medical supplies destined for the county’s Level 4 and Level 5 health facilities. In the coming week, additional supplies for Level 2 and Level 3 facilities will also be dispatched, bringing the total consignment value to approximately Ksh60 million. These essential supplies will be distributed across the 216 health facilities within Meru County to strengthen service delivery and enhance patient care.

The shipment comprises a wide range of health products and technologies designed to address the diverse medical needs of Meru residents. The county administration remains committed to ensuring that no health facility runs out of essential medicines and that every patient seeking care in public hospitals and clinics receives the quality attention they deserve.

This financial year, the County Government of Meru has allocated Ksh300 million to the health sector for the acquisition of medical supplies. Residents were also encouraged to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA), as a healthy Meru remains a shared pride. The ongoing elevation of the Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital (MeTRH) to a Level 6 facility, expected to host an 800-bed capacity, is progressing steadily.
