H.E. HON.REV ISAAC MUTUMA M'ETHINGIA,THE GOVERNOR OF MERU COUNTY, JOINS H.E THE PRESIDENT WILLIAM SAMOI RUTO, H.E THE DEPUTY PRESIDENT KITHURE KINDIKI AND OTHER LEADERS IN OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF HUMAN WILDLIFE CONFLICT COMPENSATION PROGRAM FOR THE 2024/25 FINANCIAL YEAR.
The President of Kenya H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto accompanied by his Deputy President Prof.Kithure Kindiki officially launched the third phase of the Human-Wildlife Conflict Compensation Programme for the 2024/2025 financial year. He disbursed Ksh. 950 million to support communities affected by human-wildlife conflict. The initiative seeks to restore dignity and deliver justice to individuals and families living on the frontlines of wildlife conservation.
This programme reflects the Kenya Kwanza Government's strong commitment to preserving Kenya's natural heritage while fostering peaceful coexistence between people and wildlife. The key strategies outlined include enhancing conservation efforts through the proper fencing of conservancies, allocating adequate resources to settle pending compensation claims, leveraging technology to improve service delivery and accountability, and operationalising the Wildlife Conservation Trust Fund-a sustainable financing mechanism supported by innovative funding models.
