Under the directive of H.E Governor Bishop Kawira Mwangaza, the new modern Makutano fresh produce market is now officially open. Traders expressed great joy as they relocated to the new location. The exercise was overseen by the department of Trade led by the Ag. Chief Officer Mr. Mugambi Sandi and the Meru Town Municipal Manager Mr. Gitobu Nkanata. This is in a bid to improve trading environment for the traders while also boosting the local economy and creating job opportunities.

The exercise to relocate the traders was conducted peacefully, and the traders expressed their gratitude to the Governor for this new development. The new market will provide a more conducive environment for the traders, as well as attract more customers, thus increasing their sales. Her Excellency remains committed to improving the livelihoods of the people of Meru by providing them with the necessary infrastructure for economic growth.

The move is part of our Governor's efforts to modernize the trading sector in the county. The new market has modern facilities, including a slaughter room and ample parking space. The county government will also provide the traders with adequate security and modern sanitation services.
