Today, the Deputy Governor Hon Rev Mutuma M'Ethingia represented H. E Governor Bishop Kawira Mwangaza in a meeting with the Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu at Jogoo House during which he had a fruitful discussion on upgrading Chuka University Igembe campus to Igembe University.

This upgrade into a fully fledged university will enable the campus to receive funding directly from the exchequer and thereby stop its dependence on its mother institution - Chuka University.

The county government of Meru is in full support of this move because this campus is the only university in the entire Igembe region. Once it receives charter as a fully fledged institution of higher learning, issuance of bursaries to needy students to enable them access education at the facility will be ensured.

Also present in the meeting was Dr. John Kamoyo the campus coordinator, Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi, Igembe Central MP Dan Kiili and Igembe North MP Julius Taitumu.
