Governor Vows To End Appetite For Public Lands In Meru.
Governor Bsp. Kawira Mwangaza has pronounced a vicious war against cartels & and grabbers of public lands across the county.
Speaking at Mutuati market, the governor accosted a private developer who despite a case filed in court, had gone ahead to construct viosks in a public land. She strongly condemned the act and ordered an immediate stop to the aforesaid illegal establishments.
The Governor later toured Muthara livestock market that had started during Munya's era and which has since remained stalled. She stated that her government would consider completing the project for the benefit of traders and buyers.
The Governor also visited Muthara Hospital, promising to decentralize Facility Improvement Fund (FIF) that would see every hospital spend its own money to buy medical essentials like drugs, a solution she said would reduce lengthy procurement procedures from the central point which all hospital funds were usually deposited.
Kawira, who also toured KK Laare, and Kangeta markets, expressed her desire to revamp markets across the county. She however put on notice employees responsible for cleanliness and restoration of sanity in markets across the county, noting laxity on their duties would be a thing of the past.
The Governor was accompanied by her Deputy, Mutuma M'Ethingia, Meru First Gentleman, Murega Baichu and the respective area MCAs.
