Eng. Muthamia Jackson Munoru

Eng. Muthamia is a highly accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in various positions of leadership within the government of Kenya. As the current County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Water, Irrigation, Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change in the county government of Meru, he has played a crucial role in driving the development of this region.

Eng. Muthamia holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Management from African Nazarene University and a Bachelor of Science (Hon) in Geospatial Engineering from the University of Nairobi. With over 11 years of professional experience, he has spent a decade working for both the national government and the county government of Meru in various capacities.

Prior to his current position, Eng. Muthamia served as the Chief Officer for Water and Irrigation between May 2020 and March 2023. He has also held several other leadership roles, including Director of the Water and Irrigation Department, Head of the Survey and Drilling Unit, Acting Director of Environment and Natural Resources, and Assistant Director of Research and Development. Moreover, he was a board member of the Meru Urban Water and Sanitation Corporation for three years.

Eng. Muthamia has overseen the drilling and equipping of over 230 solar-powered boreholes and contributed to the construction of more than 1,600 water projects during his tenure. He has also served as a member of various Human Resource Advisory Committees and is a member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya. He has undergone several training programs, including Corporate Governance, Senior Management Course, and Strategic Leadership Development Program at the Kenya School of Government.

Eng. Muthamia's extensive knowledge, experience, and leadership skills have enabled him to spearhead significant progress in Meru county's water and natural resources management sector. His dedication to sustainable development has been instrumental in improving the quality of life for many people in the region, and he remains committed to driving further progress in the years to come


Mr. Benjamin Kinyanga Mungania

Meet Mr. Benjamin Kinyanga Mungania, Meru County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries

Mr. Mungania is a seasoned professional in the field of agriculture, livestock, and fisheries. As the current Meru CECM for this sector, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role.

Hailing from Tigania West Sub-county, Mr. Mungania has a diverse professional background. Prior to his appointment as the CECM, he worked and led in various capacities, including Manager at National Bank, CEO and Founder of Tubonge SACCO Limited, Regional Manager at Meru Highland Diary, Unit Trust Advisor at British American Insurance Company (Britam), and Asset Manager at Cooperative Insurance Company (C.I.C).

Mr. Mungania's education and training have played a vital role in shaping his career. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance option) from Kenya Methodist University (KEMU), a Diploma in Business Management from the University of Nairobi, and a Certificate in Insurance Practices (C.O.P) from Kenya College of Insurance.

With a passion for agriculture, livestock, and fisheries, Mr. Mungania has already made strides in his role as CECM. He is committed to ensuring that the county's agricultural sector is vibrant and productive, and that Meru people have access to high-quality and nutritious food. Through his experience, knowledge, and passion, Mr. Mungania is poised to lead Meru county's agriculture, livestock, and fisheries sector to new heights.


Monica Kaithiori Kathono

Monica Kaithiori Kathono is the current CECM for Finance and Physical Planning in Meru County. She holds a Masters of Science in Commerce (Finance and Investment) from KCA University, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce with a Finance option from Catholic University of Eastern Africa. She is also a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPAK) registered with the Institute of Certified Public accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and in good standing.

With over twenty years of experience in the Finance Department of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), Monica has gained a wealth of knowledge and expertise in financial management, revenue collection, budget preparation, strategic planning, fraud detection and prevention, and development and/or recurrent expenditure. She has worked in various sections of the Finance Department, which has enabled her to understand the intricate processes that take place in the department of Finance as it relates to the management of cash flows. Currently, she is a senior Revenue Officer and acting Chief Revenue Officer in KBC.

Monica has extensive experience in management accounting, answering auditors' queries, using accounting software (SYSPRO), giving revenue figures for budget preparation and control, maintaining financial records, and reconciling accounts while adhering to General Accounting principles. As a team leader for over ten years, she has enhanced her skills in policy formulation, organizing, supervising, negotiation, analyzing, communicating, reporting, and in recommending changes to identified problems.

Moreover, her Master's degree program, where she specialized in finance and investment, exposed her to a greater understanding of investment both at the public and private sector. Her thesis focused on Meru women entrepreneurs. With her education and experience, Monica is well-equipped to serve as the CECM for Finance and Physical Planning in Meru County.


CPA Ibrahim Mutwiri Kirimi

CPA Ibrahim Mutwiri Kirimi is the Meru County Executive Committee Member for Roads, transport and Energy and has been in the County Assembly management for a couple of years.

Hailing from South - Imenti Sub-County, CPA Mutwiri prides himself of a stellar career in public service which is decorated with vast experience and knowledge in Parliamentary and Legislative matters, Public Sector Administration, Public Finance Management, plus Policy Formulation and Implementation.

His professional bias is majorly in finance, accounting and economics, but is also an acclaimed manager; a team leader of impeccable repute and a social skill virtuoso who has excelled in various postings in his long-standing career in Public Service.

Mutwiri posits that he is committed to effectively and efficiently ensuring the Meru County road network is accessible in the required quality and standards mile by mile, to open the county up to the far-flung interiors, therefore sparring economic growth.

In a bid to reducing insecurity and advancing a 24-hour economy, he pledges to ensure that the entire Meru County is well illuminated and free from darkness through equitable streetlighting and installation of floodlight masts in the markets and shopping centres.

In addition, he promises to champion the promotion, adoption and use of clean and renewable energy in Meru County, in step with the current gobal quest of reducing carbon footprints and arresting the escalation of global warming.

He is at the same time focused on infusing departmental synergy for satisfactory and timely service delivery as in his cardinal creed, that: "a leader is not always the cleverest, but a leader is one who cleverly coordinates the cleverness of a team", because nobody reserves the monopoly of knowledge.

Mutwiri holds a Masters of Science (MSc) degree Finance and Economics; a Bachelors of Commerce (BCom) Degree in Finance and is a Certified Public Accountant - CPA(K) and is currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree (PhD) in Business Administration (BA) - Finance.

Dr. George Gikunda Mungania

Dr. George Gikunda Mungania is a pharmacist with over 25 years of experience. He is a skilled pharmacist with exceptional organizational skills, strong interpersonal communication ability, and extensive knowledge of medications and their use. Dr. Mungania is a hard-working individual with exceptional zeal and passion for work. He is highly flexible and dynamic, able to handle change with ease, and deliver within strict deadlines. He is currently serving as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health Services in Meru County, where he is responsible for promoting health services, providing guidance on health policies, and overseeing the implementation of health programs in the county.

Dr. Mungania holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Nairobi. He completed his O-Level and A-Level at Nakuru High School, and CPE at Murinya Primary School. Dr. Mungania is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK) and the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists' Union.

Dr. Mungania has worked in several hospitals and pharmacies throughout his career, including Kaweru Pharmacy, Kenyatta National Hospital, Kisii Hospital, and Mbagathi Hospital. He has an extensive wealth of experience in monitoring drug therapies, provision of immunizations, conducting health and wellness screenings, and ensuring a safe and clean working environment. He also has experience in ensuring compliance with applicable legal rules and regulations governing pharmaceutical practices, conducting drug screenings, providing information about medications to patients and their families, consulting with physicians and other healthcare providers to create treatment plans, communicating with insurance companies, counseling patients about medication side effects, and maintaining accurate records of all drug orders.

Previously, Dr. Mungania was a Political, Wellness, Land, and Physical Planning Advisor to the Governor of Meru. He provided political direction to the Governor, monitored political trends both in the county and at the national level, and ensured separation of powers between the Office of the Governor, the County Assembly, and other offices in the county. In that role, he endeavored to promote national unity, peace, and stability in the county, and conducted socio-political research to advise the Governor accordingly.

Harriet Makena Kiambati

Harriet Makena Kiambati is an accomplished and experienced professional currently serving as the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Trade, Co-operatives, and Tourism in Meru County. She hails from Igembe North constituency of Meru County, where she has previously served as a teacher and an ICT supervisor for the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) during the 2019 census.

In addition to her previous roles, Harriet has also dedicated her time and skills to an NGO called Book Aid Trust, which supports underprivileged learners in Kenya and Africa by providing access to literacy materials. Throughout her career, Harriet has demonstrated her hands-on, selfless, and dedicated approach to various institutions, leaving a trail of excellence in her wake.

Harriet is a passionate advocate for youth and women in leadership and is committed to using her expertise and experience to unite diverse stakeholders in achieving the targets of the department of trade, co-operatives, and tourism in Meru County. She holds a Bachelor of Education degree with a focus on English, Literature, and Early Childhood Development, with IT-2nd class honors upper division from Maseno University. Her academic background and extensive experience make her an invaluable asset to any organization.
