Chief Of Staff
Dr Julius Mbijiwe is an accomplished public servant and dedicated educator currently serving as the Chief of Staff for Meru County under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Isaac Mutuma M’Ethingia. His career spans education, union leadership, and political representation, reflecting his deep commitment to empowering communities and improving governance in Meru.
Dr Mbijiwe began his educational journey in Meru County, where he attended primary school and successfully completed his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE). He advanced to secondary school and sat for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), laying the academic foundation for his future career in science and public service.
Driven by a passion for education, he pursued a Diploma in Science Education with a specialization in Mathematics and Physics. He later enrolled in university, where he worked toward a Bachelor of Education (Science), further strengthening his expertise in both scientific disciplines and pedagogy. His academic journey culminated in a master’s degree in project planning and management equipping him with the tools to oversee and implement development initiatives effectively. He later attained a PhD in the same field, solidifying his expertise in strategic project planning and execution.
As a trained teacher, Mbijiwe taught Mathematics and Physics at the secondary school level, earning a reputation as a dedicated and inspiring educator. His leadership and advocacy within the teaching profession led to his election as Secretary of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), where he championed the welfare and rights of educators.
His desire to effect changes at a policy level inspired his entry into politics. He was elected Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Mwanganthia Ward for two successive five-year terms, during which he delivered transformative development projects and engaged closely with constituents.
Today, as Chief of Staff, Mbijiwe coordinates executive functions, supports the governor’s Mutuma agenda, and ensures efficient executive service delivery to the people of Meru. He remains deeply committed to the county’s progress and to fostering a responsive and accountable public service for all
