WE SHALL FIX THE BAD FEEDER ROADS GOVERNOR KIRAITU ASSURES

Governor Kiraitu Murungi has assured Meru residents that all roads that are under the County Government and have been damaged by the rains will be rehabilitated. The Governor who acknowledged that most of the feeder roads across the County are badly dilapidated urged the residents to be patient and assured them that they will be fixed once the rains subside. He was responding to a request by Kiagu MCA Eunice Karegi who had requested him to intervene and have the roads repaired because they are impassable. Governor Kiraitu who was speaking at Mujwa Catholic Church during the funeral service of Mzee William M'Arimi, the late father to Meru County Alcoholic Drinks Control Board CEO, Mr Paul Mwaki, also disclosed that the national government has allocated Sh1billion in the next financial year to complete construction of Mati Road. "We will also honour the promise of providing sufficient water to Kiagu and the neighbouring Mwangathia wards," the governor said. The county has already allocated Sh10 million to one of the major water projects in the area that will benefit about 2,000 people. He directed the CECM for Water, Mr Misheck Mutuma who was present to ensure that more boreholes are sunk in the two wards.
