Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has formed a Pending Bills Scrutiny Committee to ascertain the genuine claims and make recommendations as to their payments by the County Government. The pending bills stand above Sh 1.3 billion. The committee members include Riungu M'ikieni (Chairperson), Beatrice Baariu, Kainga Mitu, Eng Mbaya Karichu, Eng John Murithi, Nyamu Nyaga and Kimathi Muthomi. Kiraitu says the committee will work with the CID to nab those who present fraudulent claims to the committee. " This is not a witch hunt exercise to victimize individuals but it's aimed at getting value for money," he added He was flanked by his deputy Titus Ntuchiu and acting County Secretary Gideon Kimathi.
