H.E. Mutuma M’Ethingia has reaffirmed his commitment to getting Afya Millers Limited back on track and restoring its role in supporting the local economy.

The Governor noted that deliberate changes have been made to the leadership team to streamline operations and strengthen management at the miller. To kick-start production, the County Government of Meru will supply the first batch of maize, a move expected to restart operations, create jobs, and stimulate economic growth.

H.E. Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia also stated that he will engage the National Government, including H.E. the President William Samoei Ruto, to address the company’s debt challenges and secure a sustainable future for the institution.

The Governor emphasized that collaboration with key cooperative institutions such as Meru Dairy Cooperative Union, Capital SACCO, and Meru Central Coffee Union will be crucial. He underscored that integrity, accountability, and proper management will guide every step of the revival process.

According to the Governor, when stakeholders work together, the goal goes beyond saving a company it strengthens the local economy and protects the livelihoods of the people of Meru.
